The castle, of which only the
ruins survive, probably originated in the 9th century.
Built on a rocky escarpment that dominates the town, it offers the visitor an
exceptional view of the small town and the Ourthe valley. Recent diggings have
uncovered new rooms and vestiges of the 15th century.
Illuminated during festivals and in summer. Visitors must have attracted Countess
Berthe, in her days: her ghost still appears daily in July/August and on Saturdays
only (weather permitting) between Easter and September.
Guided-book in English available.
